What is arthritis?

Arthritis is a term which covers a group of over 100 diseases. They were more than 100 types of arthritis and its related conditions. The word  "arthritis" defines  "joint inflammation." Inflammation is one of the body's natural reactions for disease and injury. Arthritis is swelling and tenderness for one or more  joints. The main symptoms for arthritis is joint pain and stiffness, which will get worsen with the age. The most known types of arthritis were osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. The one With arthritis, an area in or around a joint will become inflamed, causes pain, stiffness, and sometimes it is difficult to move. Some of the arthritis  affects  other parts of the body, like the skin and internal organs.

Arthritis is very common but it is not understandable. Actually “The arthritis” is not a single disease, it is a irregular way of reference for joint pain and joint disease. There are more than 100 types of arthritis with related conditions. People of all ages, genders and races can have arthritis, and it is also a leading cause of disability in America. Approximately 60 million grownups and 300,000 children have different types of arthritis. It is most common in women and people get old in age.

The common arthritis joint symptoms will include swelling, pain, stiffness and decrease in motion of joint. It might be mild, moderate or severe. It may stay same for years but can progress or get worsen. Severe arthritis can result in chronic pain, unable to do daily activities and it will make difficult to walk or climb steps. 

Arthritis may cause permanent changes in joint. These changes will be visible, such as knobby finger joints, but the damage can only seen in X-ray. Some types of arthritis will affect the heart, eyes, lungs, kidneys and skin also the joints.

The first step is to get the accurate diagnosis that causes your joint pain.  Speak to the related doctor about your symptoms.  You may refer to a rheumatologist or orthopedist, doctors who is specialized in arthritis and related diseases. There are many things which can be done to avoid joint function and  mobility. Learn about disease and treatment options, make time for physical activity and maintain healthy weight.
